Slovak alpine skier Petra Vlhova, who won the gold medal in the Alpine Skiing Women's Slalom at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, received a ceramic Mazu art statue as a gift on Feb 12.

Petra expressed her gratitude for the gift and stated that she will treasure it and do her best to bring new splendor to her life via the inspiration from Mazu culture.

The gift was given by Li Guoying, executive director of the Chinese Mazu Cultural Exchange Association.

Slovak Ambassador to China Duchamp Berra and other diplomats have expressed their admiration for Mazu culture, and Li is presenting ceramic Mazu statues made in Dehua, Fujian province as gifts to athletes from around the world competing in the Beijing Olympic Games, and inviting them to visit Fujian province, which is home to the Mazu.

The Chinese Mazu Cultural Exchange Association is taking this as an opportunity to spread Mazu culture to the world.
