A tourism and sightseeing tramline in the Wuyi New Area, Nanping, Fujian province was officially put into operation on Dec 31, 2021, which is the first tramline in the province.

The 26.43-kilometer tramline starts from Nanpingshi Railway Station, which was originally known as Wuyishandong Railway Station, and ends at the Mount Wuyi scenic area with a total of 10 stations. Trams can reach a maximum speed of 70 kph on the tramline.

As China's first tourism tramline with a fully independent right of way, the tramline will help boost the sustained and rapid development of tourism on Mount Wuyi.

The tram is spacious and bright, and equipped with large windows and media screens so that tourists can enjoy the view of Mount Wuyi when travelling on the tram, said Yu Wenqiu, general manager of the tramline construction project.

The platforms and themed trams will be designed to match the natural landscapes, ecological scenery, culture, and history in the area.
