With a focus on policy coordination, personnel training, and project development, the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution innovation center in Xiamen has worked to build itself into a demonstration zone with BRICS win-win cooperation in the new industrial revolution and has spearheaded industrial output over the past year.
The innovation center was established on Dec 8, 2020 as a realization of the initiative of "building BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution" proposed by China and South Africa at the 10th BRICS Summit in July 2018.
The center has organized forums, competitions, dialogues, round tables, and symposiums to share policies and best practices worldwide and probe into feasible solutions to address the common problems and challenges as well as partnered with relevant countries to facilitate the formulation of policies, strategies and plans in line with the needs and current progress of the new industrial revolution.
The center has also consolidated partnerships in the fields of cutting-edge technologies and human resources development through collaborations among BRICS universities, research institutions, enterprises, and think tanks.
To date, it has conducted five free-of-charge online talent training courses around the issues that are of common concern of BRICS and "BRICS plus" countries, which has attracted more than 20,000 participants from BRICS countries and other countries including Germany, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and Chile.
The center has implemented an array of demonstration projects in emerging fields such as smart manufacturing, industrial internet, industrial design and the green industry to facilitate industrial digital transformation and economic upgrading.
Xiamen enterprises play an important role in the construction of the innovation center by strengthening their cooperation with BRICS enterprises in the development of the industrial chain and the supply chain.
From January to September, the total import and export volume between Xiamen and BRICS countries reached $7.26 billion, a year-on-year increase of 32.6 percent.
