Yongchun begins harvest of citrus

Yongchun citrus is the first agricultural product in Fujian province to register more than $100 million in foreign sales.
Known as the "hometown of citrus in China", Yongchun county in Fujian's Quanzhou city is home to 3493.3 hectares of citrus plantations.

Farmers in Yongchun are currently busy with the citrus harvest. More than 100 workers have been hired to pick and transport the citrus.
The fruit will be sent to processing plants for sorting and packaging before being sold to different markets, said Liu Yulong, manager of Yongchun Jufu Fruits Company.

During the previous harvest season, Yongchun exported 72,700 tons of citrus to 29 countries and regions and generated $108 million in foreign sales.
The county is still working to expand its citrus market. Yongchun citrus will be exported to the United States this December.
