Fujian province's foreign trade up 33.7% in first three quarters
Fujian province reported a year-on-year increase of 33.7 percent in foreign trade during the first three quarters of this year, with the total amount valued at 1.36 trillion yuan ($211.86 billion).
Statistics show that Fujian's imports and exports rose 37 percent and 31.4 percent year-on-year respectively to 568.27 billion yuan and 791.21 billion yuan during this period.
The province's imports and exports in foreign trade soared 15.8 percent year-on-year to 167.03 billion yuan in September alone, marking a new record high for a single month.
The foreign trade value of Xiamen, Fuzhou and Quanzhou were the highest among all cities in the province in the first three quarters of this year, amounting to 657.02 billion yuan (up 29.5 percent year-on year), 240.33 billion yuan (up 29.9 percent), and 195.77 billion yuan (up 42.4 percent) respectively.
The province's vital private sector was the main driver of growth in foreign trade, which was valued at 723.71 billion yuan, accounting for 53.2 percent of the province's total.
Officials said that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the United States, and the European Union were the top three trading partners of the province during this period, with trade worth 265.65 billion yuan (up 31.8 percent year-on-year), 169.82 billion yuan (up 30.3 percent) and 149.16 billion yuan (up 30 percent) respectively.
During the first three quarters of this year, power battery and immunological products were the biggest exports, growing 243.4 percent and 77.3 times year-on-year respectively.
To ensure people's well-being, the province imported 76.82 billion yuan of agricultural products in the first three quarters of this year, up 39.1 percent.
