China unveiled its third batch of "little giant companies"-innovative small and medium-sized enterprises or SMEs-recently, with nine of hailing from the Xiamen Torch High-tech Zone. The zone currently has 29 "little giant companies".

These companies, supported by the Xiamen government, are redoubling their efforts to achieve technological innovation and become future champions in bottleneck sectors.

Weldtone, an electronic adhesive expert, is one of them. 

Electronic adhesive is often used for touch screen assembly, fixing of structural parts and waterproof sealing of mobile phone, tablets and other intelligent electronic products.

In the past, domestic electronic manufacturers had to import adhesives because of a lack of local producers of this product. Having identified a gap in the market, Weldtone spent more than 10 years on research and development before creating its own high-quality electronic adhesives. The company is currently the biggest producer of electronic adhesives in China and among the top three in the world.

Other small- and medium-sized enterprises from Xiamen's pillar industries such as panel display, software and information services, electrical manufacturing, semiconductors and integrated circuits have also been growing quickly in the zone.

According to an official of the zone, Xiamen aims to develop 100 companies into little giant companies by 2025. This goal is an important strategic step aimed at boosting the resilience of the manufacturing industry chain.
