Fuzhou will organize a series of online and offline activities to celebrate the upcoming World Cities Day, which will run from Oct 30 to Nov 1.
Jointly hosted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Fujian Provincial People's Government and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, this year's event is themed on "Valuing Our Communities and Cities".
Fuzhou, the capital city of East China's Fujian province, has a history of more than 2,200 years, and is a bustling area full of prosperity and vitality.
In recent years, the Fuzhou government has adopted new measures to better manage the city, including protecting its ancient neighborhoods, improving the waters and rivers, and implementing household waste sorting, all of which have improved happiness and satisfaction levels among local residents.
Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, this year's event will be held both online and offline. The online edition will offer up an array of exciting activities to participants across the world through livestreams and short videos.
The first World Cities Day was held in East China's Shanghai in 2014, and the event offers a platform for governments to contribute to the sustainable development of cities.
