Twenty-five individuals and 10 groups from East China's Fujian province were commended as role models for their contributions to the country's fight against the COVID-19 epidemic at a meeting held in Beijing on Sept 8.
Xie Baosong, one of the 25 recipients of the national honorary title and head of the Respiratory and Critical Medicine Department at Fujian Provincial Hospital, led an expert team to treat COVID-19 patients in Wuhan, China's front line in the battle against the novel coronavirus disease earlier this year.
The hospital Xie works at also won the honorary title of national model group in the fight against the epidemic.
Chen Ying, manager of Yonghui Supermarket in Fujian, was given the honorable title of role model for her efforts to meet the daily needs of residents by offering quick delivery services during the epidemic.
"The honorable title encourages us to go further to serve the people and gives us full confidence in the recovery of economic development," said Wang Shoucheng, director of human resources at Yonghui.
