Tea industry plays major role in poverty alleviation in Yongchun, Fujian

Yongchun county in East China's Fujian province is famous for its Foshou Tea, a type of oolong tea with a history of more than 300 years in the county. Its long history of planting Foshou Tea has given it a reputation as a "tea town" throughout China.

Foshou Tea has a thick fragrance and unique color, and enjoys strong reputation in China and abroad.

In recent years, Yongchun county has been making full use of its natural resources and has committed itself to the development of the tea industry.

Foshou Tea is now planted over an area of 45,000 mu (3,000 hectares) in Yongchun and has an annual yield of nearly 4,000 metric tons. The tea industry in the county has grown into a major driver of economic growth and poverty alleviation.
