Lianjiang county in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, announced a total of 104 projects worth 78.66 billion yuan ($11 billion) this year, as the county looks to develop its marine economy.

The projects focus on modern fisheries, the port-vicinity industry, seaside tourism, ports and shipping, and cross-Straits cooperation, and are expected to boost the development of Lianjiang’s marine economy.

Lianjiang county will accelerate the rapid development of mechanized farming and build a leading national base for deep-see breeding. A complete industrial chain for fisheries will be cultivated in the county in an effort to expand the overseas market.

Additionally, Lianjiang will further develop its industrial cluster of port-vicinity industries, such as shipping logistics and marine engineering equipment. The coordinated development of sea and land transportation will be promoted in the county in an effort to establish a key modern logistics base in the southeastern coastal areas.

The government will beef up efforts to develop Lianjiang’s already strong seaside tourism industry, with a focus on promoting the development of characteristic tourism products.
