Teachers and medical staff with valid certificates in Taiwan will also be welcomed to work in Fujian and take part in the city management across the province.

The guideline points out that the province will further deepen cultural and people-to-people exchanges at the grass-roots levels by hosting a raft of exchange activities such as the Strait Forum.

Fujian is closely linked with Taiwan, not just by the narrowness of the ocean channel, but also by blood ties, a common language and folk customs. Roughly 80 percent of Taiwan residents are of Fujian origin.
