The Jinhua Municipal Central Hospital – which was established in the prefecture-level city in 1910 – is a comprehensive tertiary first-class facility integrating medical treatment, scientific research, teaching, prevention, health care and rehabilitation in the central and western regions of East China's Zhejiang province.

The hospital was listed as the Affiliated Jinhua Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine in 2020 and it is operated by the Jinhua Municipal Central Hospital Medical Group (Medical Center), which was established in 2021.

The hospital has more than 206,900 square meters of medical rooms and there are currently more than 2,500 hospital beds. As of Dec 31, 2020, the hospital employed 3,325 staff, including 2,977 sanitation technicians, 597 staff with senior professional titles, as well as 620 professionals with master's degrees and doctorates.

The hospital runs nine provincial special disease centers. It offers three provincial key medical disciplines and also has a provincial traditional Chinese medicine department, one provincial key specialty in traditional Chinese medicine and 25 key municipal medical disciplines.

It has large-scale medical equipment such as a PET-CT scanner, a compound operating room, a medical linear accelerator, an ophthalmology full femtosecond laser machine, as well as 3.0T magnetic resonance and 256-slice spiral CT equipment.

The hospital has introduced diagnosis-related group, or DRG, medical insurance payment method reforms and has reportedly achieved excellent results. The DRG implementation experience has become a model for reforms to the province's medical insurance payments system.
