Over the New Year holiday, the Dream Valley area of Hengdian World Studios in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, lit up with a lantern show that seamlessly blended intangible cultural heritage and traditional Chinese elements.
Drawing inspiration from the renowned ancient text Classic of Mountains and Seas, the show featured over 10 lantern sets in the shapes of various mythical creatures, accompanied by captivating performances of the datiehua or iron fireworks, the fire pot performance, and traditional dragon and lion dances.
This holiday, Hengdian World Studios unveiled a range of innovative cultural and tourism experiences across its attractions. In addition to the lantern show and the intangible heritage display, there was also a firework show at the Dream Bund and a lively bonfire party at the Guangzhou Street and Hong Kong Street area.
Visitors were treated to a visual and cultural feast, bidding farewell to the old year and embracing the new in a setting suffused with Chinese romanticism.
"Despite the brevity of the New Year holiday, the diverse array of New Year's activities drew crowds of visitors. The debut performances of iron fireworks and the fire pot were particularly well-received," said Tong Yao, an employee at Hengdian World Studios.
Looking ahead to Spring Festival, Hengdian World Studios will introduce a night tour of the lantern festival at the Qing Ming Shang He Tu area, promising visitors an even better experience with meticulously crafted movie-like set designs.
