Tianjin Juilliard School starts new academic year

Tianjin Juilliard School officially launched its 2026-27 academic year on Aug 29. The graduate program welcomed 58 young musicians from 11 countries.

In addition to orchestral performance, chamber music, and collaborative piano, the school introduced its first cohort of composition students this year.

Before classes began, the school arranged lectures, activities, and placement tests to help new students integrate into campus life. Graduate students will join the Tianjin Juilliard Orchestra for ensemble rehearsals and performances, with their first concert scheduled for Sept 27.

The pre-college program and the music development course have also started. The pre-college program enrolled 221 students, including newcomers from the United States, Germany, Australia, and 15 Chinese provinces and regions.

Weekly Saturday sessions deliver structured training tailored for aspiring conservatory applicants. The music development course has 175 students across all age levels, offering game-based early childhood music introduction, foundational skill-building for primary grades, and advanced training for secondary students.
