China-Singapore Friendship Library

The China-Singapore Friendship Library is located in the Sino -Singapore  Tianjin Eco-city in the Binhai New Area. Designed by GMP  Architects, the library covers an area of 35,000 square meters. The building stands at 35 meters tall and consists of five floors. It was officially opened on September 28, 2018 to mark the 10th anniversary of the Eco-city’s development.

The library's design, executed with the involvement of a team from Singapore, incorporates eco-friendly materials and renewable resources such as geothermal energy, solar power and reclaimed water, meeting the highest national green building standards. The design prioritizes natural light, featuring expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and observation platforms to enhance visitors’ enjoyment of the surrounding landscape.

Every piece of furniture is ergonomically designed, and the lighting is soft and shadow-free, ensuring a comfortable reading environment. The library also includes a Singapore-themed gallery and an eco-children's library, which offers an engaging learning experience through advanced technologies like AR interaction, robot reading companions and multimedia audiovisuals.

In addition to providing a wealth of cultural resources and high-quality services, the library also fulfills regional public cultural service roles. It seeks to continually enhance its service quality and reader satisfaction through big data analysis and surveys. Moreover, it offers database resources for local industries and provides event spaces for community groups and enterprises, fostering cultural exchange and community development.
