A handover ceremony for China's emergency food aid to Chad was held in the African country on June 16. Chinese Ambassador to Chad Wang Xining and Chad's Minister of Social Action Zara Mahamat Issa signed a transfer certificate.

Wang noted in a speech at the event that climate change and regional instability have seriously threatened food security in Chad. He said that feeling great compassion with the country, the Chinese government has decided to provide additional emergency food aid to help relieve the difficulties.
Wang said that in an effort to implement the important consensus reached by the heads of state of China and Chad, and to advance agricultural modernization and safeguard food security in Chad, Chinese agricultural expert teams have for years made efforts to cultivate quality seeds and offer agricultural technical training in the country. Earlier this year, he added, China also launched a zero-tariff policy for all African countries with which it has diplomatic relations, facilitating the export of more high-quality Chadian agricultural products to China.
On behalf of the Chadian government, Issa expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the Chinese government and people and pledged to allocate the food to people in need as soon as possible.
Issa said that Chad is ready to proactively conduct agricultural cooperation with China to better address food issues.
