As part of efforts to celebrate the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up in Lushunkou economic zone, Dalian, Liaoning province, a "Summer of Lushun" festival was held to promote the area's rich local culture. 

The festival began with an opening ceremony on Aug 10 and was followed by weeks of cultural events, attracting crowds of visitors who flocked to see a diverse range of events staged by the organizers. 

The event concluded at the end of September.
