Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co (DACKS) delivered a 20,000 TEU-class container ship "Cosco Shipping Scorpio" to Lushunkou district in Dalian, Liaoning province, on Aug 20.

TUE refers to the capacity of the container ship, which is measured in twenty-foot equivalent units. 20,000 TEU-class container ship is the world's largest in the category.

The ship has a length of 400 meters, a width of 58.6 meters, draft of 30.7 meters, a capacity of 197,000 tons, and maximum speed of 22.5 knots.

Equipped with an intelligent ship energy system, the smart ship is capable of operating safely while loaded with a huge number of containers but consuming lower fuel than the same class ships.

The ultra-large ship is also environmentally friendly since it uses anti-fouling paint and optimizes the management in several areas, including wastewater, oil pollution and ship scrapping.

The ship will serve between the Far East and western and northern Europe for COSCO Shipping Liner Co.
