Dalian COSCO Shipbuilding Industry Co Ltd is a large-scale modernized shipbuilding company subordinate to COSCO Shipbuilding Industry Company, which holds 70 percent of its shares. Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co Ltd holds the remaining 30 percent.

The company was founded at Yangtouwa of the Lushun Economic Development Zone, Dalian, Liaoning province on July 18, 2007 and obtained production capacity in January, 2010. The company has a land area of 1,880,000 square meters and a water area of 1,660,000 sq m. The length of coastline of the company is 1,955 meters and its total floor area is 440,000 sq m. A significant part of the COSCO Group, the company forms a production pattern of two docks and five berths with annual production capacity of 2,400,000 dwt and an annual steel output of 400,000 tons. At present, the company has 1,500 employees with leading domestic labor productivity.

The main business of the company is manufacturing high value-added ocean-going vessels such as bulk carriers of 180,000 tons or above, VLCC, VLOC and 10000TEU. After reaching full capacity, its annual shipbuilding capacity will be 3,000,000 dwt.

In 2011, two bulk carriers of 205,000 dwt valued together at $153,710,000 US were exported.

Dalian COSCO Shipbuilding Industry Co Ltd has been focusing on standardized construction of a quality management system. The company is committed to becoming a first class global shipbuilding company, and has obtained an ISO9001:2008 certificate. 

Dalian COSCO Shipbuilding Industry Co Ltd was granted a 500,000 yuan provincial subsidy and a 500,000 yuan municipal subsidy, and has applied for a subsidy under the Talent Introduction Program provided by the Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs.
