Typhoon's devastation to be erased from E Airport Rd

updated : 2018-08-03

The East Airport Road greenbelt, severely damaged by Typhoon Hato last summer, will be restored in time for the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition in November.

The price tag is 9.96 million yuan ($1.5 million), which includes 8.19 million yuan ($1.2 million) for construction, among other costs. Paying it are both the city and Jinwan District governments. The Development & Reform Bureau announced on Aug 1 that the project has been approved.

East Airport Road is a major artery serving Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport and forms part of Provincial Road S272. Its landscaping presents an arrival's first impression of Zhuhai and its cityscape.

The restoration area runs from Golden Beach to China Aviation Industry General Aircraft (CAIGA) in Jinwan. The length is estimated at 3.4 km (2.1 miles), of which 200 m (656 ft) belong to West Airport Road.

Broken tree limbs will be cut off and fallen trees restored to their natural positions while dead and missing trees are replaced. Land lots with unsightly greenery will be improved and equipped with automated irrigation systems.
