Beauty recognized as Doumen Town contends for title

Doumen Town is one of only six Guangdong villages or towns shortlisted in the first-round selection for China's Most Beautiful Villages & Towns 2018, according to a list recently released by the organizing committee.

The selection process is sponsored by a leading domestic financial media group, China Business Network (CBN), with the support of over a hundred television stations, broadcasters, newspapers, magazines, new media, and apps across the country.

They advocate rural rejuvenation, while finding the beauty of ecology, livability, humanity, and inheritance in towns and villages.

All the candidates will go through an investigation from July to September to be followed by three rounds of voting by the public, media, and experts. The award ceremony is scheduled for October.

Breathtaking natural scenery

Doumen Town is the west portal of Zhuhai's land transport. It is located in the southern Pearl River Delta with Qianwu Town in the south, Lianzhou Town in the north, Huangyang Mt in the east, and Shadui Town of Xinhui to the west across the Hutiaomen Waterway.

In addition to stunning natural scenery, the town is home to many tourist attractions, including the 4A Yu Wen Quan Imperial Hot Springs Resort, Jintai Temple, Jiexia Manor, Doumen Old Street, and Luyi Ancestral Hall.

Local must-try culinary delicacies include Paishan Village Pork Meatballs (also known as "Lion's Head"), Dachikan Open Flame Roast Pork & Spare Ribs, Lianzhou Grain Worms, and Doumen Double-Shelled Crab.

The other Guangdong candidates are in Jiangmen, Foshan (two), Zhongshan, and Meizhou.
