Greenways with assorted natures help define the city

updated : 2018-07-31

More than 30 km (19 miles) of greenway have been added to the allure of Zhuhai, each section distinct in itself, the city Urban Utilities & Forestry Bureau announced on July 29.

The greenway in Doumen District's Longshan Lake Park, for instance, connects a lakeside landscape belt with waterfront leisure, natural lake-view, wetland, and ecology landscape gardening areas to form an ecological culture ground.

East Airport Road, meanwhile, will be further beautified and upgraded with a coastal boardwalk, urban greenway, wetland park, and fitness square. It is seen as a core public coastal space following the example of Lovers Avenue.

Implementing the "Sponge City" concept, Jinwan District's Central River Wetland Park consists of a flood prevention walkway, greenway, garden footpath, boardwalk, and viewing deck to appreciate the wetlands landscape. The park is an important part of the axis landscape line in Aviation New Town.

As planned, Zhuhai will create five urban characteristic parks, several community parks, 20 km (12 miles) of fitness greenway, and 30 km (19 miles) of urban greenway, while upgrading 40 km (25 miles) of boulevard this year.
