Han Jingsheng, a fifth-generation practitioner of One-Finger Zen Massage, has been named a "State-level intangible cultural heritage inheritor" -- meaning that he is an individual carrying on an important cultural skill.
The only one listed from Zhuhai this time, Han is one of 1,082 people nationwide with intangible cultural skills on the fifth list of the Ministry of Culture & Tourism.

One-Finger Zen Massage is a traditional Chinese medical treatment created by Li Jianchen in Henan Province during the reign of Emperor Tao-Kuang (Daoguang) in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The technique has a history of over 150 years.
Early in November 2014, it was selected for the fourth batch of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Directory.
Han, 61, has further developed the TCM treatment in Zhuhai as head of the One-Finger Zen Massage Inheritor Studio. The studio was established in 2016 and often hosts activities and training sessions to promote the heritage.
In addition, Han has cooperated with Zhuhai City Health School to provide long-term training in the traditional techniques he practices.
Besides Han, Zhuhai is home to Chen Fuyan, who has mastered Doumen's Sanzao Crane Dance, as a state-level intangible cultural heritage inheritor.
