Coastal boardwalks, a bookstore, sea-view deck, and bicycle paths are among improvements to Zhuhai's Sea & Sky Rest Station Park in New Xiangzhou, which reopened to the public on May 1.
The rest station park is situated at the northern entrance to downtown Zhuhai at the intersection of East Meihua Road and North Lovers Avenue. The site on Fenghuang (Phoenix) Bay is west of the sea and east of Fenghuang Mt. Nearby are Sea & Sky (Haitian) Park and the Zhuhai Museum & Urban Planning Exhibition Hall.
The park was closed for overall upgrade last August after being named a Demonstration Urban Greenway Project by the Xiangzhou District government.
The renovated area totals 30,000 sq m (7.4 acres) and features waterfront wooden trestles, landscapes, greenery, and support facilities. Added were flower trellises, a cycling greenway, large sea-viewing stones, beaches, and service facilities such as toilets. A new 40-stall parking lot is also available, according to Xiangzhou Zhengfang Public Resources Operation.
