The "Ocean Resistance" evening show debuted at Chimelong Ocean Kingdom on July 2 before thousands of spectators, news-people, and internet celebrities, portraying a grand story through a mix of fireworks, lasers, fountains, and motorboat displays.
The show comes in response to increasing demand based on the theme park's extensive praise for visual effects and creative fireworks displays. It details a complete storyline of five episodes: the beautiful and peaceful ocean kingdom, invader attack, defense and counterattack, song of victory, and celebration.
Spectators take snapshots
As night fell at the park on Hengqin Island, the show got off with a bang -- a fireworks display that lit up the skyline. Numerous fountain streams danced to musical rhythms, with continuously changing colors and shapes.
Standing on mounting and descending waves, a team of flyboard acrobats turned several somersaults accompanied by laser lights and fireworks. Under the fireworks, motorboat drivers performed a set of well-choreographed stunts.
The show culminated with a row of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) coming into view. Flying from far away, they constantly changed formation and teamed up with motorboats to "challenge" the flyboard performers, creating a magnificent panoramic interaction showdown.
Another highlight of the evening was the all-star backing acts, which consisted of a flying-man patent team from France, fireworks technique team from the Olympic Games and World Expo, and team dedicated to UAV technical innovations and breakthroughs.
According to a staff member at Chimelong, the show aims to raise public awareness about the need to protect the ocean. Therefore, it combines education and entertainment suitable for the entire family.
