Zhuhai access made free for Greater Bay Area yachts

updated : 2017-07-04

Jiuzhou and Wanshan ports of Zhuhai have been designated as first-batch entry-exit points for free-travel yachting between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. And furthermore, Hengqin's Chimelong and Ferretti marinas are now allowed to berth such yachts.

The Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Public Security, General Administration of Customs, and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection & Quarantine jointly issued a communiqué to make the announcement. The free-entry arrangement for the sailing trips was formulated by the Guangdong Free Trade Zone and port authorities.

Fang Rongzhou, chairman of the Zhuhai Yacht Tourism Association, expressed excitement at hearing the news. It is both convenient and timesaving to yacht from Zhuhai to Hong Kong and Macao due to the city's geographic advantages. He says that with the launch of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao "free-travel" yachting, more cooperation and wealth will be brought to Zhuhai's yacht and high-end tourist industry.

Other entry-exit ports to be opened are Guangzhou Nansha Passenger Port and Shenzhen Prince Bay Cruise Homeport. Nansha Yacht Marina Club, Prince Bay Cruise Homeport, and Shenzhen Bay Yacht Marina Club are also among designated berths.
