Dolphins lend auspicious start for cruise sailing tours

updated : 2017-07-04

Zhuhai launched its first offshore sightseeing cruise on a sailing yacht on June 30, providing both locals and travelers with a two-hour cruise of famous scenic spots along Lovers Avenue.

Developed and operated by Jiuzhou Navigation Culture Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Jiuzhou Holdings Group, the route uses two VA44 sailing yachts imported from HanseYachts Group in Germany.

The cruise starts at Jiuzhou Port and arrives at the Zhuhai Opera House via Jiuzhou Island, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Lovers Avenue, and the Fisher Maiden statue.

The fascinating part of the maiden voyage was coming across four dolphins -- black, pink, gray, and white -- about 1 km offshore during the return trip, said a crew member. It was quite rare for him to see four dolphins swimming at the same time.

According to a company executive, the sightseeing cruise is a trial of "Sports & Tourism" initiative, providing a brand-new perspective for passengers to view unique aspects of the City of Romance from the sea.

In the future, the company intends to develop more tourism products to enrich the sea cruise experience and make water sports a calling card for Zhuhai, he added.
