Wang Zengqi Memorial Hall officially opened to the public on May 18 in Gaoyou city, Yangzhou, marking the 100th birthday of the influential Chinese writer.

In Yangzhou, diners get a taste of the cuisines described in the literary classic A Dream of Red Mansions, complete with the right ambience.

The museum holds regular and special exhibitions displaying things such as ancient Chinese earthenware, jade carvings, calligraphy, paintings, bronze ware, cultural relics, local paper-cutting art, and Ming and Qing porcelain.

The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms. Major Cold (Chinese: 大寒), the 24th solar term, begins this year on Jan 20 and ends on Feb 3.

The educational model being used at Yangzhou Culture and Art School in Jiangsu province should inspire other regions around the country facing challenges in preserving traditional art forms.
