The 2019 China Yangzhou "Flowery March" International Economy, Trade and Tourism Festival opened on April 18 in Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, bringing together more than 500 guests from home and abroad.
Participants include ambassadors and business representatives from the United States, Germany, Japan, Denmark, Pakistan, Malaysia, Norway, and a number of other countries and regions.
"The relationship between Yangzhou and the international community has been growing stronger, thanks to Yangzhou's position as an important city north of the Yangtze River. Additionally, Yangzhou has formulated effective supporting policies to create a fair, efficient and convenient market environment," said Xia Xinmin, mayor of Yangzhou, when speaking about the city's advantages.
A total of 55 major projects were signed at the opening ceremony, with a total investment of 65.8 billion yuan ($9.82 billion). Among them, 38 were manufacturing projects, and six exceeded a one-time investment of 5 billion yuan.
Yangzhou has always been a supporter of the Belt and Road Initiative, and the city is now seeking more opportunities to cooperate with countries and regions involved in the initiative.
"Yangzhou is a city famous for its poetry, while Denmark is famous for its fairy tales. In this sense, there is a cultural connection. China and Denmark, as well as the two cities of Yangzhou and Randers, will have greater space for cooperation in the future," said Jakob Linulf, the Consul General of the Royal Danish Consulate General in Shanghai.
Since Yangzhou first held the "Flowery March" International Economy, Trade and Tourism Festival in 2002, the festival has become an important platform for the city to promote economic and trade cooperation and showcase its charm to the world.
