The second Gaoyou Culture and Arts Festival opened in Gaoyou, a satellite city of Yangzhou, Jiangsu province on Nov 11.
First held in 2017, the Gaoyou Culture and Arts Festival was launched to further promote cultural development and improve the core competitiveness of the city.
Possessing a long history of being a hotbed of Chinese folk songs, Gaoyou has attached great importance in the inheritance and development of folk songs during this year's festival, inviting performers from eight ethnic groups such as Han, Zhuang and Uygur to participate in distinctive performances.
Lasting for one month, a series of activities such as calligraphy and painting exhibitions and folk song competitions will be organized during the festival.
