Xinjiang sees record foreign trade surge

The total foreign trade value of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region reached 403.11 billion yuan ($56.1 billion) in the first 11 months of 2024, marking a year-on-year increase of 26 percent, the highest growth rate in China. This is the first time in the region's history that its foreign trade has surpassed 400 billion yuan.

Xinjiang's foreign trade has continued to show steady progress this year, with a stable yet positive growth trajectory. From January to November this year, the region's exports amounted to 343.04 billion yuan, up 27 percent year-on-year, while its imports totaled 60.07 billion yuan, an increase of 20.7 percent.
In the first 11 months, Xinjiang's exports and imports with the five Central Asian countries grew by 6.9 percent year-on-year, while foreign trade with ASEAN countries surged by 231 percent.
