'Glory of Ancient Persia' exhibition opens in Urumqi

The "Glory of Ancient Persia: Treasures from Iran" exhibition opened at the Xinjiang Museum in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, last week and will run until March 6, 2025.

Divided into three sections, the exhibition showcases 216 cultural relics from four renowned museums in Iran. The diverse collection spans a wide range of items, including palace architecture, household furniture, royal treasures, everyday utensils, as well as paintings and calligraphy, offering visitors a vivid glimpse into the rich history and artistic heritage of ancient Iran.

The exhibits on display include sculptures, ceramics, glass, metalwork, calligraphy and paintings, many of which feature elements influenced by Chinese culture. Together, they underscore the profound importance of the Silk Road and the vital role Xinjiang has played in fostering cross-cultural exchange and mutual learning.
