Kazakh president highlights trade collaboration with Xinjiang

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently visited the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, following his participation in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing. During his visit, Tokayev held productive discussions with Ma Xingrui, Party chief of Xinjiang, and Erkin Tuniyaz, chairman of the Xinjiang regional government.

The talks focused on implementing the outcomes of the China-Central Asia Summit and the Belt and Road Forum in order to further promote bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Xinjiang. The discussions centered around strengthening trade ties, enhancing connectivity, boosting cultural exchanges, and exploring opportunities in tourism.

Tokayev emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration between Kazakhstan and Xinjiang, as both sides have seen a significant increase in their trade relations and seek to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership. He also acknowledged the crucial role played by Xinjiang in the sustained growth of Kazakhstan-China trade in recent years.

The visit by President Tokayev comes as both China and Kazakhstan are working towards promoting economic cooperation through the Belt and Road Initiative. Trade between the two countries has been on the rise, and Kazakhstan sees Xinjiang as a crucial partner in its efforts to strengthen economic ties with China.
