A neighborhood festival banquet at which many problems are solved was held in the Haldun community of Tacheng prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on May 17.
Located in the north of Tacheng prefecture, the community covers an area of 1.88 square kilometers and has 2,316 people living in 889 households. Different ethnic groups form a community of language, food and customs. They won honorary titles for national unity in 2014 and 2019.
"This is a typical multi-ethnic residential area. There are 14 ethnic groups, including Han, Uygur and Kazak people. More than 30 percent of families here are made up of more than two ethnic groups," said Bahargul, branch secretary of the community.
There is a tradition in the Haldun community to solve problems during the neighborhood banquet. Since 2014, the banquet has been held monthly. Residents share their food and learn from each other.
"No matter which ethnic group you are, we are a family," said Maliya Kadir, a resident in the community.
