Ma Xingrui meets with Gambian Foreign Minister

Ma Xingrui, Party chief of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, and Shohrat Zakir, governor of the regional government, met with Mamadou Tangara, foreign minister of Gambia, on April 19, during his visit to Xinjiang.

During the meeting, Ma gave a warm welcome to Tangara and provided an overview of the region's history and economic and social development. He emphasized that Xinjiang will continue to pursue high-level opening-up, attract more foreign investment, and deepen international exchanges and cooperation, so as to achieve high-quality development and improve the well-being of all ethnic groups in the region.

Ma said he hopes more Gambian officials can visit Xinjiang to promote pragmatic cooperation between the two sides.

Tangara spoke highly of Xinjiang's significant progress in its economic and social development and China's development experience. He pledged to enhance cooperation with Xinjiang in areas such as electricity and energy, and to contribute to building a community with a shared future for China and Africa.

The meeting also demonstrated continued efforts to deepen China-Africa economic and diplomatic ties.
