Copy of Romance of the Western Chamber from Yuan Dynasty unearthed in Xinjiang
A hand-copied book of Romance of the Western Chamber, written by Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) playwright Wang Shifu, was unearthed in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
A hand-copied book of Romance of the Western Chamber, written by Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) playwright Wang Shifu and unearthed in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, is the only physical copy of the book that has been found so far. It proves that the Central Plains culture was promoted in the western regions of the Yuan Dynasty, and reflects the passion of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang for various kinds of operas, as well as other art forms introduced from the Central Plains.
