Transport infrastructure investment reaches far and wide in Xinjiang

The investment in transport infrastructure hit 51.84 billion yuan ($7.21 billion) during January to August in the Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, with the figure having increased 15.3 percent year-on-year, according to the regional transportation department.
From 2012, the newly built highway in Xinjiang is 62,200 kilometers, with a total length of 217,300 kilometers. The density of the highway network increased by over 40 percent compared with the beginning of 2012.
