Maternity and Children Healthcare Hospital in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region opened on Monday, further strengthening the region's health service network for women and children. Currently, Xinjiang boasts 106 such healthcare institutions.

The hospital offers general healthcare, disease prevention, reproductive health services prevention and treatment of newborn defects.

Meanwhile, it will also conduct scientific research, organize personnel training, manage information, promote advanced medical technology and supervise the work of family-planning service providers across the region.

The regional government has worked to provide women and children with easier access to high-quality health and has contributed to the improvement of newborn care in recent years.

The maternal mortality rate in Xinjiang has been declining for six consecutive years. Mortality rates for infants and children under 5 years of age have been decreasing for 11 years.

This year, Xinjiang will further integrate healthcare resources in Kashgar prefecture, Hotan prefecture and other prefectures and standardize maternity and child healthcare institutions in the region.
