A China-Europe freight train from Wuyishan, East China's Fujian province, bound for Almaty, Kazakhstan, set out from Horgos Port in Northeast China's Xinjiang autonomous region on Jan 28.

The port has increased its China-Europe train routes to 22, up from 16 in the same period of last year.

The first China-Europe freight train to depart from Wuyishan, it was made up of 42 containers loaded with plastic products and home appliances worth about 21.5 million yuan ($3.33 million).

These goods were collected from Fujian's Nanping and its neighboring areas and will be distributed to Central European countries after arriving in Almaty.

In future, the Wuyishan-Almaty freight train will take more Chinese specialties from northern Fujian and its neighboring provinces, such as bamboo products, tea, and electromechanical devices to Central Asia, Europe and countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The port cuts down the customs clearance time from 3.5 hours to one, so as to help improve the efficiency of logistics services, according to Ma Kai, an official with Horgos customs.
