Yili Normal University is a normal university of higher learning under the administration of the education department of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
Its predecessor was Xinjiang Provincial Yili Junior College founded in 1948, and gained its new official name as Yili Normal University in December 2018.
The university covers 125 hectares, and consists of 13 institutes covering humanities, mathematics and statistics, Chinese language, physical science and technology, electronics and information engineering, chemistry and environmental science, biology and geography science, foreign languages, Marxism, law, sports, art and education science. It offers 49 undergraduate majors, covering 10 disciplines.
The university has 941 staff members, including 621 full-time teachers and 246 teachers with senior professional titles. There are 12,868 undergraduate students, 657 junior college students and 609 postgraduate students.
