Located in Habahe county, in the middle of desert, Baisha Lake is 650 meters above sea level, 2,100 meters long from south to north, and 1,300 meters wide from west to east. Known as the “desert wonder”, its water surface covers about 10 hectares. It is only 2.5 kilometers from the border between China and Kazakhstan.
The area includes Mingsha Mountain, Birch Forest, Red-leaved Forest and Baisha Lake, and was rated a national 5A scenic spot in 2015. Thanks to its unique ecological environment, the area grows not only hydrophilous plants but also bushes and mixed forest, providing habitats for many rare animals such as the greylag, the cormorant and the wild corsac.
Visitors can enjoy blooming lotuses in the summer and red maples in the autumn. With Mingsha Mountain, sky and clouds reflected on it, the lake is like a big mirror. Besides, you can see crowds of reeds flowing in the wind, which is an enjoyable sight.
