Lhasa, capital of Xizang autonomous region, released its 2024 economic performance data on April 7, demonstrating significant income growth for both urban and rural residents. Urban residents had an average disposable income of 58,171 yuan ($7,938) in 2024, marking a 6.1 percent year-on-year increase. Rural residents saw an 8.6 percent rise in their per capita disposable income, reaching 27,151 yuan.
Lhasa's growth rates outpaced national averages, with urban residents exceeding the nationwide rate by 1.5 percentage points and rural residents by 2 percentage points. The income growth was driven by increases in wages, businesses' net income, property income, and transfer income.
Moreover, the income disparity between urban and rural areas continued to narrow. The urban-rural income ratio improved to 2.14:1.
Lhasa also concentrated on aiding low-income groups by implementing 21 key livelihood projects, which enhanced income security and improved residents' sense of well-being.
