During the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which fell on June 8 to 10 this year, the cultural tourism market in Tianjin's Jizhou district was bustling, bringing in revenue of 408 million yuan ($56.24 million).
The Cheshenjia Scenic Area in Jizhou district launched the first Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei water splashing carnival with the style of the Dai ethnic group, featuring spectacular peacock dances, bamboo pole dances and mass dances.
Meanwhile, scenic spots such as Huanshan Lake, Limutai, Jiushanding, and other scenic areas with water-play projects, attracted a large number of parents and children.
Rural leisure tourism remains a highlight in Jizhou. Visiting the countryside villages and making zongzi (traditional rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves), tourists can fully experience the traditional customs of the Dragon Boat Festival in person. In addition, visitors can also enjoy picking fresh fruits and vegetables at the orchards to find relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Over the three-day holiday, key cultural and tourism reception venues in the region received a total of 920,000 visitors, representing year-on-year increases of 23.9 percent.
