On November 23, a press conference themed "the implementation of the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and Jizhou's actions to promote local development" was held. At the conference, He Yinong, secretary of the CPC Jizhou committee, introduced a series of measures taken by Jizhou district to accelerate the construction of a model city of ecological priority and green development.
Over the past ten years, the urban and rural landscape of Jizhou has undergone tremendous changes. The mileage of rural roads has been extended to 2,478 kilometers, 35% longer than that of 2012; 100% of rural streets and alleys have been improved; the per capita disposable income of farmers has doubled compared to that of 2012; large scale ecological migration has been carried out, with more than 50,000 people from 73 villages having moved into Jizhou new city; the water quality of Yuqiao reservoir has reached and exceeded Class III standard from Class IV.
Furthermore, Jizhou district has firmly adhered to the development path of modernization, grasped the theme of high-quality development, continued to promote the "1458" working idea, and relied on four major aspects of rural revitalization, investment attraction, key projects and the integrated development of culture and tourism to drive overall development. Jizhou has taken major projects as the starting point, strengthened its substantial economy, focusing on the manufacturing industry, promoted the investment of 4.7 billion yuan (about $657 million) in the heat transfer project to Beijing, the 5.2-billion-yuan investment in the phase III of Guoneng Pandian, and the 16.1-billion-yuan total investment in pumped-storage power projects, and has seized the development opportunities of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
At the same time, Jizhou has been steadily promoting rural revitalization. By promoting the revitalization of its rural industries, talents, culture, ecology and organizations, Jizhou has deepened the integrated development of its cultural and tourism industries, and vigorously implemented the strategies of "tourism +" and "+ tourism". Jizhou district is one of the first batch of national tourism demonstration areas, and its cultural tourism industry is booming. Rural tourism covers 15 towns, townships and more than 100 villages in the region, driving the employment of 60,000 farmers and benefiting 180,000 people.
Jizhou district has stuck to the principal of "promoting green development and the harmonious coexistence of human and nature". It has started the construction of a global carbon neutral demonstration zone, vigorously developed new materials, new energy, high-end equipment manufacturing and other strategic emerging industries, promoted the implementation of a green tourism infrastructure supporting center and other key projects, accelerated the establishment of a nature protection system and improved the quality and stability of the ecosystem.
Jizhou district will continue to carry forward the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, work on the urgent needs of the people and promote local high-quality development.
