Jizhou’s Extraordinary Decade II

The series report on Jizhou's extraordinary decade shows its local developments, as well as the outstanding achievements it has made over the past ten years.

The development of industries has been the region’s priority for rural vitalization. Based on local conditions and the characteristics of each town and village, Jizhou selected advantageous industries to promote rural revitalization and industrial prosperity.

Remarkable achievements have also been made in the construction of high standard farmlands. Over the past decade, the area of high standard farmlands has increased from 70,000 mu in 2012, to 500,000 mu in 2022.

In the past ten years, the area of agricultural greenhouses has increased to 33,300 mu, and 94 demonstration villages (sites) with high-quality agricultural products and leisure agricultural parks have been built.

The characteristic agricultural products of Jizhou enjoy a good reputation in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Jizhou has 32 green food certifications, a green food base area of 181,300 mu, 17 green food manufacturers, and 6 national geographical indication products, including the Panshan Mopan persimmon, the Tianjin chestnut, the Huanghuashan walnut, the Honghuayu mulberry, the Zhouhe carp, and the Sangzi watermelon.

Based on its rural characteristics, Jizhou has also created a batch of ecological habitable villages. The government has implemented the maintenance and reconstruction project of bridges, with a total investment of 34.99 million yuan (about $4.9 million), to help improve rural traffic problems. In 2019, Xijingyu road in Yuyang town was acknowledges as one of the "ten most beautiful rural roads" by the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China. A total of 30.22 million yuan has been invested to implement the rural water safety project, solving the water issues of 24 townships and 47 schools in the region.

During the past ten years, Jizhou has also been working on eliminating poverty, improving people's livelihoods and gradually realizing common prosperity. The per capita disposable income of rural areas in Jizhou has increased from 12,580 yuan in 2012 to 13,683 yuan in 2022.
