Jizhou Economic Development Zone of Tianjin

The Jizhou District Economic Development Zone of Tianjin was founded in 1992. In August 2009, the Tianjin Municipal People's Government approved the establishment of two demonstration industrial parks in Jizhou: the Tianjin Shangcang Wine Industry and Green Food Processing Zone and the Tianjin Special Purpose Vehicle Industrial Park. They were merged in June 2017 and the Jizhou District Economic Development Zone has since administered their operations. In June 2021, the CPC Jizhou District Committee issued a document stating that the Party working committee and the management committee of the Jizhou District Economic Development Zone had respectively become administrative agencies of the CPC Jizhou District Committee and the Jizhou District Government.

The development zone has a total planned area of 31.76 square kilometers, of which the developed area is 18.52 square kilometers. It has 67 kilometers of roads and 390 kilometers of pipelines for water supply, reclaimed water, rainwater, sewage, power, gas, and communication, with cumulative investment amounting to 5.53 billion yuan ($875 million). The buildings and facilities for business offices, science and trade, and commercial operation occupy 86,000 square meters, industrial-standard workshops take up 85,000 square meters, apartments 15,000 square meters, and relocated residences 250,000 square meters. The zone also has a 100,000-square-meter bonded logistics center (Type-B), a middle school and a primary school.

So far, three leading industries have formed in the development zone: equipment manufacturing, new material, and green food processing. There are 97 enterprises in the equipment manufacturing industry whose main products include auto parts, electrical equipment, and precision instruments; 62 enterprises in the new material industry with products including magnetic materials, special functional materials and new building materials; and 31 enterprises in the green food processing industry focused on brewing, food processing and feed processing. The zone has 34 enterprises in other industries.

The development zone has 337 enterprises, including 246 production and operation enterprises and 91 registered enterprises. Among the production and operation enterprises, there are 224 industrial enterprises (60 industrial enterprises above designated size) employing 12,000 people, including 6,300 local Jizhou people. Among all the enterprises there are 44 national technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises, 31 national high-tech enterprises, 15 Young Eagle enterprises, four Gazelle enterprises, 32 Small Technology Giant enterprises, and two technologically leading enterprises. In addition, the zone boasts 496 patents, seven specialized new products, one academician workstation, and 12 enterprises with technology centers and key laboratories.
