SPC-held Forum on Rule of Law in Digital Economy closed with rich fruits

The Forum on Rule of Law in Digital Economy, hosted by China's top court, closed on May 26 with new content and vitality injecting for international cooperation on digital rule of law.

Zhou Qiang, chief justice and president of the Supreme People's Court of China (SPC), extended congratulation on the successful holding of the forum in his speech at the forum's closing ceremony, saying the success marked a new level of international cooperation in digital rule of law among the participating parties.

Zhou said around the forum theme of promoting regulated development of the digital economy with innovation of rule of law, the participants spoke freely, sharing their practical experiences and envisioning the future development. The exchanges added new content and injected new vitality to international cooperation on digital rule of law.

This forum has gathered a broad consensus, enhanced friendship and wrote a new chapter of international cooperation on the digital rule of law, he said, adding that the communications at the forum, based on mutual respect and understanding and seeking common grounds while reserving differences, have achieved rich results and will have a profound influence on cooperation in the field of justice and digital rule of law among countries.

Zhou said the the SPC is ready to work along with the judicial organs of the participating countries to uphold the global governance concept of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, strengthen exchanges, deepen cooperation, and seek common development in a bid to make new and greater contributions to promoting the achievements of digital civilization to better benefit all peoples and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

The global industry is accelerating its transformation to digitalization and intelligentization, while the rapid development of the digital economy also brings a series of risks and challenges for the world, Shamika N.Sirimannne, Director of the Division on Technology and Logistics, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development said, adding that he hopes that the forum's participating parties will take this forum as an opportunity to build a multilateral, diversified and multi-level cooperation mechanism, build consensus, enhance mutual trust and jointly promote the sustainable development of the global digital economy.
