Jean De Codt, president of top court of Belgium wrote to its Chinese counterpart, expressing his gratitude to Zhou Qiang, president of Chinese Supreme People’s Court (SPC) for receiving him in June in China. And Jean De Codt donated historical materials to him.

The historical materials included the first complete works of legal precedents of Supreme Court of Belgium, portrait photography of De Codt’s grandparents and his original letters which will be stored in China Court Museum.

De Codt said that he admired professionalism of Chinese legal construction and its achievements and he was impressed by informatization construction of Chinese courts.

Having knowledge regarding the ancestor’s history can help them better understand about the future, De Codt said, pointing out that its top court is willing to promote the growth of Belgian-Sino judicial relationship starting from the memorandum signed by the top courts of the two countries.

At the invitation of Zhou Qiang, the delegation led by De Codt visited China from June 11 to 15 2018. Zhou met with the delegation in SPC and the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on judicial exchanges and cooperation between the top courts.
