A symposium on cultural progress was held from August 30 to 31 under the auspices of the State-owned Cultural Assets Supervision and Administration Office (SOCASAO) and The Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development.

Officials, specialists and representatives of state-owned and private tourism enterprises suggested ways to improve the working plans of cultural programs.

Yu Junsheng, Vice Minister of the Beijing Publicity Department, said that the cultural program workgroup should focus on local culture in Beijing and further promote the innovation of tourism and the cultural and creative industry.

Culture is an impetus of tourism while tourism provides a platform for cultural communication, said Song Yu, Party secretary and director of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development. Song added that the integration of tourism and cultural resources will facilitate their common development. 

Zhao Lei, Party Secretary and Director of SOCASAO, said that the growth of the cultural and creative and tourism industries requires effort and resources in many fields and it is necessary to listen to the opinions and responses of all involved sectors.
