A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cultural creative exchanges was signed between Beijing and Copenhagen on Dec 5 in Beijing. 

Based on the MOU, the two cities will increase cooperation in the cultural and creative industry by such steps as taking part in each other's major international events, enhancing people-to-people exchanges, and developing further pragmatic connections between cultural creative agencies and companies. 

In addition, to support Copenhagen as the guest city of 2018 Beijing Design Week, Beijing's State-owned Cultural Assets and Supervision and Administration Office (SOCASAO) will hold related activities. 

Copenhagen, capital city of Denmark, is a major northern European city. Boasting abundant historical and cultural resources, it has top talent pools, advanced concepts and technology in designing, culture and art, movies, and urban planning. 

In recent year, Copenhagen and Beijing have enjoyed ever closing exchanges and cooperation in the cultural creative field. China's first cultural center in north Europe was established in Copenhagen in June 2014. 

The memorandum is of strategic significance in the globalization of Chinese culture as it will help it to expand across other north European countries. 

The memorandum is also expected to facilitate diplomatic activities as Copenhagen and Beijing are sister cities.
